The kitten was so very young
Perhaps was 10 weeks old
He begged for help so hopelessly
For he was wet and cold

A strolling couple came along
They heard his anxious plea
They said, "Poor kitten! He needs help
And needs it instantly"

They picked the helpless kitten up
To shield him from all harm
They dried him off and fed him milk
And he felt fed and warm

He lived with us, and grew and grew
And he played happily
And now he is a grown-up cat
As he was meant to be
